How do I apply a filter to a trigger, action, or condition?

You have come up with beautiful automatic campaigns, but not everyone is allowed to receive all these campaign emails. An abandoned shopping cart e-mail, for example, is not a service e-mail, but a commercial e-mail. Only contacts who have given you permission to email may receive these types of emails.

Applying a filter to a trigger, action or condition can therefore be useful if the automation does not apply to everyone, but to a specific target group. You can apply a filter based on a dynamic list or a static list.

An example: you have a birthday campaign. You may only send a birthday email to contacts if they have also given permission for your newsletter. So you apply a filter to the trigger so that the trigger only goes off with contacts with the permission: Newsletter.

Next, there is a distinction between contacts that are Dutch and English. Of course you don't want to send a Dutch birthday email to the English contacts. By applying filters to the actions send e-mail you distinguish this.

In the example above, three filters have been applied:

  1. Trigger: All newsletter recipients (dynamic list)
  2. Action send e-mail Wish list birthday EN: Newsletter recipients EN (dynamic list)
  3. Action send email Wish list birthday NL: Newsletter recipients NL (dynamic list)

But how do you apply a filter to a trigger, action or condition?

When adding a trigger, action or condition, a filter icon will be visible on the left. By default, no filter is set.

Click on the filter to add a filter. A popup will appear:

Choose whether you want to apply a filter based on a Dynamic list or a Static list. Then choose which list you want to use as a filter and click OK.

The filter properties become visible:

Wanneer je de actie volledig hebt ingesteld zie je op het canvas een blauwe filter als deze actief is:

Delete filter

Do you want to remove the filter? Then click on the trigger, action or condition on the canvas, so that you see the properties on the left. Then click on the filter icon again and choose No filter in the pop-up. If no filter is active, it is gray.
