Logging into Spotler with your username and password can be made even more secure. If the combination of password and user name is stolen or hacked, an unauthorized person could gain access to all personal data in Spotler. By securing your account with the two-factor authentication, you can keep those persons out, even if they have your password. If you use two-factor authentication, you secure your account with both your username, password, and an extra verification code. This unique verification code is generated by an app on your smartphone. After a few seconds, the app refreshes and new codes are generated. This way, you are always assured of a unique code and your Spotler account will remain well-protected.
You can enable the two-factor authentication in your profile menu, under the tab Security.
This process is really easy. You can get this additional layer of security on your Spotler account in just two steps:
Would you like to know how to reset or disable the two-factor authentication? Then continue to step 3 and 4:
Before you can use the two-factor authentication, you must first enable this option in your Spotler account. You can do this in the settings menu of your Spotler account. Click on the menu at the bottom left and then on My profile.
In My profile you can see two tabs: Profile and Security. You will find the two-factor authentication under the tab Security.
As you can see, the two-factor authentication is still disabled. Click on the Enable button to enable the verification code. The Change two-factor authentication window will pop up, asking if you want to enable the two-factor authentication.
Once you click on Ok, the two-factor authentication is enabled in your Spotler account.
The next time you are logging in, you will first have to enter an extra verification code before you can access your account. This code is generated by an authenticator app on your smartphone. Search for "Authenticator" in the App store or Google Play and install one of the many authenticator apps on your smartphone. All apps offered in the App store or Google Play are suitable to use. All you have to do once you've installed the app, is activate the two-factor authentication for your Spotler account. You can find out how to do this in the article Activating the two-factor authentication.
The two-factor authentication is now enabled in your Spotler account. Next, it is important that you activate the two-factor authentication for your Spotler account using your smartphone. To do this, you need to log in to your Spotler account again with your username and password.
Adding your email address
After you have enabled the two-factor authentication in your Spotler account, you will be asked to enter your email address at the first login. It is very important that you do this, in case your account needs to be recovered. If your smartphone breaks down or is stolen, we will use your email address to help you regain access to your account.
Type in your email address and click on Next. You will immediately receive a confirmation email with a validation code. This validation code always consists of 10 characters. Type in this code to verify your email address.
Installing the Authenticator app
You have already installed the authenticator app on your smartphone in the previous step. So in the Install authenticator app pop-up, you can just click on Next.
Setting up the authenticator app
The next pop-up gives you a QR code which you need to scan with your authenticator app. To do this, open the QR scanner in the app and focus on the QR code.
After the code has been scanned, the app on your smartphone is authorized for the two-factor authentication in Spotler. Are you unable to scan the QR code? Then click on Can't scan the code? and a handy key will appear.
Entering the verification code
Your app is now authorized for logging in to your Spotler account with the two-factor authentication. Next, select Spotler in your authenticator app and a verification code will be shown on your smartphone. This code will only be visible for a short time, it is refreshed after a few seconds. This way, you will always have a unique code.
Type in the code and click on Verify. You are now logged in to your Spotler account securely. The two-factor authentication is now activated for, and enabled in, your Spotler account. From now on, you will always have to enter a verification code after entering your username and password when you log in.

Did your smartphone get stolen, or did it break down? If so, it is important that you reset your two-factor authentication as quickly as possible, to ensure the security of your Spotler account. Because you no longer have access to the app on your smartphone, you won't have the option of resetting the two-factor authentication in your Spotler account yourself. Please contact your Spotler supplier or Spotler Support and they will reset the two-factor authentication as soon as possible. Don't forget to install an authenticator app again once you have a new smartphone.
